rough night

we had a little trouble getting the pain and nausea medication right, last night. fortunately, the doctors and nurses put their heads together and fixed the issue. ellen had a great day, relatively speaking of course.

we played uno, because she won't let me teach her poker, and she went for a couple laps around the unit.

she still wants to go home tomorrow but because she has had so little to eat she is still a little weak. we have the cat scan on wednesday and may stay in the hospital until then.

Ellen is correct - there is NOTHING on tv. Sorry about the nausea and pain but things are sounding good! The wheel chair rides, the walk and playing games are encouraging to us to read about. Keep it up Ellen! And thank you for writing - even if it is only one or two lines.

The Ohio weather is starting to cool off. I believe our high today is going to be near 74. The nights are cooler too. (That means the grass will change its growing pattern) I understand your neighborhood (or neighbor) is rather particular about the grass. My neighborhood is the same way.......one guy starts mowing, they all mow. It is really funny in the winter when one guy starts up his snow blower...wow...it ends up a snow blower party in the middle of the street! That will be happening soon enough.......so don't tell anybody I mentioned the "s" word! Keep taking those small steps to recovery. We are all praying for you both.

Hi Ryan and Ellen, Your doctors and nurses, thankfully, are well prepared to adjust medication to give Ellen more comfort.
Didn't they say Dr.G was an expert at this? Another blessing.
Ellen, stick with it, not learning poker. It will just be another game you will have to let men win at. If you are feeling well enough to play Uno, I am as happy as can be. Love, Aunt Connie

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!!
I know this isn't the most ideal place to spend your birthdays, but, I know its where you want and know you need to be. You guys can just celebrate DOUBLE next year, when all of this is behind you.
I hope you receive my gift soon! I mailed it last week.
I love you both so much. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way today, and always. You know I'd be there with mom if I could.
Love Jaime

Hi Ellen! We've been reading your blog this morning and have decided to dedicate tomorrow to YOU! In your honor, Hilary Vicki Jordan & Kathy are going to play UNO all day instead of working. No one will mind - no one is here!! Stan is golfing. Todd's in Portland for an M Meeting. Rich is on vacation this week. Don traveling South. Dian's at home for another 4 weeks. With all those people gone, there can't be much work to do, right??!!! Well thats what we thought, too. So, if we need some pointers, we'll give you a call. If you don't hear from us, that means we are perfecting our skills and will be issuing a challenge to you and Ryan shortly. In the meantime, please continue to get better. Still praying for you - we know its helping!!!
Love,
The GDK Gang

Hi Ellen and Ryan,

Glad to hear Ellen is getting some strength back. I understand your frustration with tv these days, there is nothing on! But, I agree with Sommer, if you and Ryan have not seen Entourage rent the first two seasons, they are hilarious!

Praying and thinking about you often!

Love,
Amy and Mike

Glad to hear Ellen is doing a little better. She is still consistantly in my prayers. Ask her to make a spelling book if she is bored- she is really good at those. Things are good here, I just graduated my 3 year ministry program so that is definately something to celebrate. The relationship I am in (name of the guy is Mark) is growing stronger everyday and we have started doing ministry together as well which is fun. Both our families came in for graduation so they all got to meet eachother and hang out- that was interesting but it went very well God's hand was all over it. We have been getting a lot of rain and my car got caught in a little flood yesterday but it is dried out and working fine:) I was a little scared at first. Give Ellen my love and me and people from my church are praying. God Bless
