today started much like the last few days. ellen slept. dr. gollob stopped early in the afternoon. he said that her blood counts were down but he doesn't think that they have hit their low yet. he expects them to come down a little more in the next day or so. her creatnine count stayed steady at 1.8.
we talked about the possibility of the plurex catheter. this is the temporary tube inserted into her abdomen so that she can release fluid whenever pressure builds. he said he would talk with the other doctors and make a decision later in the day. his p.a. later informed us that she would be having the procedure done tomorrow.
about the same time, she woke up, completely, for the first time in a few days. she was able to sit up, drink some water, eat A jello cube and talk to her mother and me for a while. it was nice to have her awake and lucid for a bit. of course, as much as she wanted to fight it, the pain and nausea came back and she needed some medication.
she is sleeping comfortably, again.

Hi Ryan,
Glad that Ellen was able to eat some jello and get a bit to drink even if it was just a little bit. every little step will keep her moving forward in the right direction; getting well and coming home. You all are in our daily thoughts and prayers as always. Please tell Ellen I miss her and am cheering her on...even if you whisper it to her while she is sleeping. Remember to take care of yourself too!
Love,
Hilary

Hi Ryan,
Glad to hear Ellen woke up even for a little while. The fact that she was lucid and wanted some jello is certainly encouraging.I know that
each day will show some degree of improvement and slowly but surely she will be on the mend.
Ellen is a fighter and will never give up. Our prayers and positives will keep her going in the right direction!!!!Glad you are right by her side with encouragement. Tell her we love her and pray daily for her healing!!!!

Dear Ryan,
I am sure Ellen will get stronger and stronger as the days pass. Remember...small,slow steps to recovery. I am happy she woke up and talked to both you and Suzy. I am praying for Ellen many times during the day. She has the love and support of a wonderful family and many friends. Give her a big hug for me and tell her I miss her. xoxo christy
Hi Ryan,
Glad to hear that Ellen is taking small steps to recovery. I am sure it was wonderful to have her sit up and eat a little jello. Give her a hug & a kiss for me and tell her that I miss her alot. Hope you are getting some rest and taking care of YOU. Tell Susie I said hi, and we will keep the prayers and positive thoughts going here.
Love to you all,
Jo Ann & Tom
Dear Ellen,
Now that you are experiencing periods of lucidness, would you like to hear our woes??? Stanley is totally discombobulated - even though it was Tuesday, he though it was Monday, and he assumed he should be suffering a bit of stress - so he induced some. Hilary has a headache (but only because Dan is sick and has been whining for three days). Jordan cut his pinkie finger shaving (figure that one out on your own). Vicki has been sneezing and blowing her nose for two days (sounds carry very far in an almost empty office). Rich has a sore upper left arm (although it is VERY colorful - you have to see it for yourself!). Kathy has a sore upper right arm (she mentioned blowing this popsicle stand and moving to Texas - didn't go over well and she was punished). Todd has a bad back (he was too cheap to have Trish's new dining room furniture delivered - thought he could move it himself?!?!). We continue to pray, every day, that you will soon have the same insignificant problems as we do!!!

The GDK Gang
PS - Dian did have heart surgery on Friday, and is now home resting and recovering.
Hi Ellen and Ryan, Wishing you the best as you prepare for the catheter proceedure.
What a blessing for all that you could interact a little more easily with each other and Mom as the day went on. Thinking of you hour by hour. Love, Aunt Connie and the fam

her and even lots who don't know
her. Glad she could talk to you
guys a little bit. Tell suzy Hi,too.

Turning the corner, progressing without surprises...this is good news. It seems like the doctors have gained some control now over the process. Ellen has been through something awful, so it is great to hear that she can rest. All this has to be so hard on you, her family. So I am relieved that you can have some relief as well. Give her my best and remind her that we are all cheering her on here in North Canton.

So glad this treatment is easier. And what a joy to have Ms. Ellen awake for a while. Give her a lot of hand holding and kisses. God bless you both. We are still praying continuously.
Thinking of you!! Glad to here Ellen is coming around. A couple more days... stay hopeful. Hope you guys ( Ryan and Sue ) can get some rest too. Love you Aunt Nancy

Hi Ellen and Ryan,
That was great that you got through the 2nd round with less problems. I hope you are feeling better each day and eating well. I pray that you bounce back quickly. We had a nice visit with Amber over this past weekend. You are very fortunate to have such wonderful girlfriends. They really do love you guys! Sincerely, Louann Smith
