still progressing

ellen made more strides today.

her greatest stride, perhaps, was that she slept through the night but when she woke up, she kept her mother and me in conversation through most of the morning. THEN, she decided that she wanted to go for a walk. she was able to take a few more bites of food today and has been drinking plenty of fluids.

speaking of fluids, thanks to the pleurx catheter, i was able to remove another liter from her abdomen. she seems to feel better, and more importantly, breathe better when the fluid is removed. now i can take fluid off as her stomach indicates.

dr. gollob was in and said that she will, most likely, need to stay through the weekend. he wants her to be able to move around on her own without fear of a tumble. he mentioned her blood counts were still a little low and that was also a deciding factor. her creatnine is holding steady around 1.9.

she is scheduled for a cat-scan on wednesday. barring any setbacks, she will have the test that will determine the rest of her treatment.

Progress in the making! Way to go Ellen! It is nice to hear you went for a walk, ate, and spent the morning in conversation. It must feel so much better without the excess fluid build-up. Keep up the great work!
Love and Prayers,
Debbe

Hey girl!!! Sounds like you had a very full day. It is good to hear that you are doing a little of different things. Keep taking those little steps and don't rush and push too hard! I sent a package in the mail today for you, so hopefully you get it in a few days. And I have to tell you that I bought one of the hats for myself. I wonder if I can get away with wearing it to work.

Things have been pretty busy here, but we are settling some into the school routine! Next week all the swimming times start, so we will have another thing to get used to in the schedule-and they all swim at least 2 times a week. The kids are running a 1 mile run on Saturday at the Lake Y. Tristan's running club is competing and the other two wanted to register, so there we are.

I tried to post Monday, but was having problems with it--so this may or may not be a repeat. The boys ran a 1 mile race Monday called the Labor of Love. Marcus ran the whole mile in 11 minutes and 20 seconds, and he thought it was hilarious that a beagle was running behind him the whole time!

We had another parent night tonight. Two down, one to go! Having the kids at different buildings is getting interesting! The scheduling is all different, and I am not liking getting up so early with Tristan.

I have to make sure that the homework is done and everyone is getting close to being in bed. My kids are night owls, while many of their friends have been in bed for over an hour! Book time and lights out! I hope that sleep comes to you tonight too!

Love, energy, and prayers heading to you! Jen

Hi Ryan and Ellen, Thank you for sending the good news of progress made, although small, in many areas. Hoping and praying that tonight is also peaceful for you and that tomorrow brings more improvements still. Continuing to pray that the medication is working and the test next week will show this. You aren't missing anything around here but the same kind of North Carolina heat, so try to stay strong and continue to show the love you have for each other as you wait out these long days. Love, Aunt Connie and the fam

Yes! A walk and some food and lots of conversation. Sounds like Ellen is dealing well with this round of treatment. And that has to make Ryan, mom, dad, brother and all friends feel better. Keep smiling and know prayers are still being prayed with thankfulness at the beginning for improvements we read about. Thank you Ryan. This is above and beyond the call of duty for you to keep us so well infomred. I truly appreciate your consideration.

Hi...I'm so grateful to hear that Ellen is doing so well and that the test won't be delayed as long as you originally thought. I still think of Ellen as the doctor's miracle girl, and I pray so much for that.

You've all been through so much, and I admire you for your strength and what Ellen's bracelet says, "Faith, Hope, Love." Some day you will be able to pay back through An Artful Life - I just know it!!

Love to you both,
Aunt Susan

Hey El & Ryan ~

As I got ready for work this morning I looked at my powerful Ellen bracelet and really thought about the words on it.

Faith: Knowing God is going to deliver you out of this illness and that you are beating this disease!

Hope: In what is to come! So many amazing things are coming up in your life and I just can not wait to see them happen.

Love: All of the people that think and pray for both of you every day, sometimes every minute! God's unconditional love.

I am amazed by your strength and am so proud of both of you. I'm continually praying in Faith:-)

love always, Ashley
