home.. kind of

they told us yesterday that if her tests continued to improve, she would be discharged today. her kidney function improved for the third day in a row and the number came down to 3.2. still far from a preferred 1.4, but we're getting there. her white blood cell count made a dramatic rise as well.

we left the hospital around 2 this afternoon to head back to our temporary home here in durham. we all took a much needed nap as soon as we got back and settled and now we're trying to decide what to get for dinner.

ellen is happy to have some time to relax. i'm sure the apartment will be more conducive to good sleep than her room right next to the nurse's station.

it is worth mentioning again and again... we appreciate the gifts and cards so very much. please remember, though, that she can't have flowers around.

That is SUCH great news!!! Ell, I knew you could do it! Keep up the good work. Get some good non-hospital food! Although maybe avoid the frosties - remember the belly ache yesterday. ;-)

I'm so glad you'll get to relax and rejuvenate at the loft. It was also so great to see you guys. You are both such amazing fighters, I don't know how you do it.

Much love,
Amina

Ellen-YES!!! Sit back in that recliner and sleep in a regular bed (That goes for Ryan too)! I can picture you there sleeping without the hospital noise and opening doors. I picked up my wristband yesterday, and have already seen a few people wearing them around NC.

Ellen when we take that trip, the 2 of us flying will be a trip! You would have had a good laugh at me Sunday night when my first plane was delayed for 70 minutes and my layover time was only 90 minutes. They could not find the fuelers. The whole plane ran to get connecting flights, and I ended up making it easily. I thought I was going to have to drive home from Cincy because I had a class to teach the next morning. So you can make sure that we get to the next plane and I will let you squeeze my hand while in the air!
Did anyone find those 90210 DVDS yet?
Sending love, energy and prayers your way! Jen

Hi Ellen and Ryan,
I can't tell you how happy it makes me to picture you both at the loft. I hope you all had a good night. Ellen, I was happy to hear from Megan that you had a nice talk with her. Hopefully she can get down to see you soon. I hope you are eating some of Aunt Deb's chicken soup and getting stronger and stronger!! Annie says "hello". She made a trip to Cincy with Kristan to see Kristin over the weekend, and on the way home she overnighted with Megan in Columbus. You two will have to talk sometime today to really catch up. I am thinking about you and praying all the time. Have a good day!! Love you...xoxo christy

Ellen, as you can tell from the last message I cannot spell, nor can I see. Time for new glasses!
But, I keep reading about painting.
Explain please. I am always looking for great art. Every trip I take I look and look. Could be there is great art close to my back yard! If you love it, keep painting. You and Ryan amaze me, And Your Father thinks Ryan is rather special too! He told me! And of course your father loves you so much it is fun and amazing to watch his face when he talks. Keep doing something fun and enjoy being away from that hospital.

Hi...This will give you a chuckle. Annie went over to spend some time with Nugnet and I went over to check on them. Annie has "Sex and the City" on while she is vacuuming your family room furniture. Nugent was hiding upstairs in your bedroom. I think Nug sleeps on the back of your chair and he makes faces at Mr. Stubby across the deck. Ha Ha...anyway Annie was breaking a sweat. That is all for now..hope you are enjoying your visit with Hilary and JoAnn. xoxo christy
