Tuesday Evening

i have absolutely nothing new to report. i am still really sick and right now i am trying to figure out how i am going to make it to the doctor in the morning for blood work and a check up. i have decided i think the puke bucket will have to come with my mom and i. no question about it.

my mom is trying to keep me busy, god love her. i just feel too sick to do anything right now. the best she can do is play UNO with me but i love that game so it works for me. we played for hours last night and probably will tonight. at least that helps keep my mind off of things.

well i am going to be shaving the remainder of my hair off on friday when ryan comes back down to durham. i figure i will give it a few more days and then i won't be able to handle hardly anything being there. plus i am so sick of collecting hair all over my clothes. it grosses me out! and it completely grosses me out how it comes out in major chunks. gross.

my aunt emailed this morning and gave a good suggestion...if anyone is looking for something to send me but has no idea what...you can send me scarves or hats. i am in need of them. ryan is going to bring me a couple of hats that will keep me warm at night. but we have no scarves yet. i am going to send my mom to target in the next few days. but that is just an idea for anyone that wonders what i can use. i don't "require" a gift, please don't think that is why i wrote this! i just wanted to help with an idea because people are always asking me, ryan and my parents what i could use.

hope everyone has a good night and i will report tomorrow after the doctor. i am hopeful for good news!

love,
ellen

Hi El,

Just wanted to let you know that I was thinking about you tonight. Ashley and I are going shopping this weekend so we will look for some fun scarfs. I know that loosing your hair has to be so hard. You are being so brave and I think you will feel empowered a little when you shave the rest off with Ryan. Have a good night and I will talk to you soon.

Love,

Amber

HI El,

Amber just came down and told me the new news. Just wanted to remind you that the Britney Spears look is in this year and you can totally rock it out. Amber got me a bracelette and I wear it all the time. Thinking about you lots. Tell your mom that Mama Mia says hi. We will be back in New York getting more purses before you know it.

Hi Ellen, I'm very happy that you felt like writing on the blog tonight. We are all cheering for you every step of the way, scarves, bucket, and all. Chrisy, Bella, and I found some hats at your mom's thanks to her quick thinking. Luckily your mom has good taste--you will look just fine wherever you venture out to. Praying for good news at the doctor's tomorrow, but if your body needs a little more time I know you are prepared to do whatever needs to be done for the treatments to work most effectively. Get your strength up the best that you can, try to get some good sleep and know that in spirit you have many there with you and your mom tomorrow. May God wrap his loving arms around both of you and hold you tightly, Love, Aunt Connie

Hi ellen,

Want me to shave my hair too....just let me know and I will. I will go look for some fun scarves and hats for you this week, that will be fun. Glad you and your Mom are playing cards, anything to take your mind away from where you are now.

I had a doctors appt tonite as my knee is giving me a hard time and he told me I have a knee of an 80 year old and I need to have it replaced...I told him no Thanks right now and he stuck this big old needle in my knee and gave me some drugs....Oh well I will just trek on, and deal with the pain.

I will pray that your news will be good tomorrow and that you start to feel a little better every day. Great lots of rest and let you Mom take care of you. Remember no matter what you are beautiful.

Sleep well,

Love ya,

Jo Ann

Hey girl! Sorry to hear you are still carrying the bucket around! I have been looking around for a good scarf or two, but no luck yet. I might just have to go shopping again tomorrow! I am hoping that you get to the doctor's and hear more good news!

I walked down memory lane today at the 6th grade orientation. The parents meeting was in R1 down where our freshman lockers used to be. That room sure looked bigger when we went to High school there. Actually the whole building looks smaller now. Tristan is on team orange, and seems to have quite a few friends also on the team.

Know that we will all be watching for the news tomorrow. I am sure a "million-zillion" (Maddie and Marcus talk) prayers will be coming your way.
Sending my love-Jen

Hey girl,
Sorry to hear you are still feeling so sick! I hope you can get it under control soon. Although, I am wondering if all the nausea is from all the drinking you do? remember how that affected you during interferon treatments. HA HA! Note: Ellen wasn't drinking during interferon treatments but her doctor asked her if she was. I think that is so funny!

tomorrow is the first day of school for gwenyth and preston. well preston just has orientation in the afternoon that i will go to with him. it will be sad!

hope you are able to sleep soundly tonight. i am praying for more good news tomorrow so make sure you blog as soon as you can...everyone will be waiting to hear!

love,
hilary

Hey Ellen,

I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you. Losing your hair has to be so hard, but I agree with Ashley it is the "new look"!! Hang in there, keep fighting.

I wish Annie I were there to play eucre with you and your mom. I know there is a 2-hand eucre game...I will have to check the directions. You could switch it up and play that too. Hi Ellen,

We, along with many others, are praying for excellent test results tomorrow - and also that you start feeling better.

You need some of those white barf bags that they used to put on the airlines to take out with you tomorrow. I took ziplock bags and a bucket with me when I went for my radiation.

Keep up that determined spirit that you have had through all of this. You impress the hell out of all of us!

Love,
Aunt Susan & Uncle Ed

Hey El -

Hope you are feeling better this (wednesday) morning! And good luck with the tests! And give Suz a little squeeze for me - she gets the fun task of carrying around your bucket. ;-) Hopefully whatever bug you have will pass quickly and you'll get a few more days of rest before you go back in for treatment on Monday.

I'll be on the lookout for scarves and hats! What kind of look are we going for - Kentucky Derby, Princess Di (think veil), French Bistro, Gangsta, Country Bumpkin or rich girl sailing in a rigatta? You know how I love to accessorize! And if anybody can pull off the cue-ball look it's you (aside from Britney Spears). You look so great with short hair also, that you won't have to wait for it to grow too long to feel like your old self. :-)

Has it cooled off in Durham yet? Chicago has been wet, wet, wet. We went to my friend's lake house last weekend near Wisconsin and it poured all weekend. It was still fun though, we had enough people for a cornhole tournament. Mike and I were pathetic and lost in the FIRST round - I blame him. ;-)

My mom said she, Shelly and Addy went to the MSF over the weekend.
They tried to say hi to you over the camera, but I guess there was a loud band playing beside it and Addy DID NOT like the noise! She says hi still!

Hopefully my long post has lulled you into sleep and you can take a nap now. ;-) I love and miss you, and am constantly thinking of you (and sporting my bracelet)!

-Amina

El,

Hoping for great news today at your checkup! Hope you are feeling a little better today than yesterday and that the bug is working it's way out of your body!

I will be on the lookout for scarves and see if I can find something good...I am going to Miami FL area this weekend so maybe I can find something REALLY nice for you to sport. Hope today is well and enjoy your day!!!!

Ellen and Ryan,
I do not know if you remember me but this is Mr. Ackerman. I was Todd's coach for basketball. I was shocked to learn of your situation from Margie Blake. Ellen, I know you and your family are strong people and this will pass. Know that you are in my thoughts....Keep fighting the good fight.

Watch for some funky scarves and hats coming your way. I just heard that you were given a script for the nausea but did not go to the doctor today. If the nausea and the hair falling out is the treatment working, that is good. Hate to see you so sick though. Are you able to hold down any liquids? Wish I could be there with you to play UNO. I like that game too. Take care. Love ya. Cathy

I've told ya, you are beautiful no matter what! The hair will grow back before you know it! Doesn't make it any easier, I know, but you getting better is most important!
Thanks again for the birthday email. You seem to surprise people everyday! For how you are feeling, you still have it in you to think about others. You are AMAZING! And, are truly my idol.
I love you so much!! Ryan will be back soon :)

Morning E...

Sorry to read about your hair. Don't be surprised if you actually look good! Every now and then an actress or singer (Brittney is NOT in either category) will get a buzz and they look fine.

Well, I sounds as if you need a laugh. Let's do it at Ryan's expense!

Like ol DR, Mr. Gray managed to lock himself out of the house last night. Unlike ol DR, there was no spare key outside.

So, down the street we trotted. At Phil's we snagged a short ladder (yours was... locked in the basement). After some serious consultation, he examined the infamous bedroom window (where the wood pecker was sighted) and managed to get a screen out. With all the grace of a ballet star (what's with these art guys?), he wiggled into the room and within seconds had remanifested himself in the garage.

Clearly we are not meant to be house burglers as we could jimmy neither a door nor a window. I fear had the window not been open, we would have been forced to do it the old fashioned way... break glass. Chris who watched it all had the good sense to be quiet... she locked the garage door in the first place.

Let's see how many days it takes to spot an extra key outside!

Now I know that a bald head is an excellent place for shock advertising. Don't be tempted to tattoo any anti-social messages or funky designs on yourself!

Get home soon!
